Capabilities
MTC Wesgo manufactures a wide variety of shapes and sizes from small microminiature parts to cylinders as large as 20" diameter or 4.5 feet long.
Forming procedures include standard isostatic pressing and green machining, as well as the near net shape processes of dry pressing and slip casting.
Tight dimensional tolerances are achieved in final part finishing by grinding, lapping or polishing. Normal as-fired tolerances are ± 1% or ± .005" on all dimensions, whichever is greater.
Depending on the size and shape of the part, standard grind and lap tolerances achieved are:
Grind: ± .0002" on all dimensions
Tolerances: Finish 16 microinches, Flatness .001 in./in
Parallelism: to .000020" (.000508 mm)
Flat: to one light band
Lapping: (.000012" or .000305 mm flatness)
All surfaces are lapped to RA finish requirement as low as 3 microinch RA (AL-995) and 5 microinch RA (AL-300 and AL-500).
The MTC Wesgo Alumina family includes four standard, dense, vacuum-tight compositions containing from 94% to 99.8% Alumina to cover a wide range of applications.
As Alumina content increase, properties such as chemical resistance, thermal conductivity, dielectric strength and resistivity generally increase.
Let our applications engineers put their experience to work for you. Close examination of application requirements may suggest an alternative MTC Wesgo Alumina composition which could do the job just as reliably as a high purity formulation.
